E-Waste

Raven Recycling is the designated E-Waste Collection Depot for the Whitehorse Area, and the processor of all electronic waste collected in Yukon.

This means you can drop off any electronics or electrical items listed on the Designated Materials Regulation free of charge.

If you live in a community outside Whitehorse, you can drop off e-waste free of charge at your local transfer station.

E-Waste Depot Hours

Our E-Waste Collection Depot is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4 pm and Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm

Entrance to the Depot is located to the left of our offices off Galena Road.

What can I drop off?

For a detailed list of acceptable items please see this list from Environment Yukon.

Note the surcharge is paid at point of purchase, not when dropping off items. Large appliances (white goods) are not included on this list and will still be subject to tipping fees.

White Goods

Raven Recycling also accepts white goods for a fee. Bring your fridges, freezers and other large appliances to the Metals Recycling entrance located on Industrial Road.

The following tipping fees apply:

Appliances with refrigerant (Freon) – $35 per unit

Appliances without refrigerant (Freon) – $12 per unit

For more information on white goods and metals recycling visit our Metals Recycling page.

Why recycle e-waste and white goods?

Electronics and white goods contain valuable material resources such as plastic and precious metals that can be reused! There is more gold in one tonne of computer scrap than there is in 17 tons of gold ore.

These items also take up lots of valuable landfill space and can leak many different toxic chemicals (e.g. cadmium, lead, mercury) into the environment. Recycling e-waste keeps these dangerous chemicals out of our landfills and environment.

To learn more about the growing issue of e-waste worldwide, check out the Global E-Waste Monitor 2017.

What happens to my electronics?
